US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged Israel to convert its military success in Gaza into a long-term strategic victory and provide humanitarian aid to the people in the region.

Blinken stated that Israel has accomplished most of its aims in Gaza by crippling Hamas’ military capacity, setting the stage for a permanent resolution to the conflict.

Blinken sees an opportunity for the return of Israeli hostages following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, which he believes was a major obstacle to a potential agreement.

Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Blinken emphasized the need for further improvement, warning Israel of potential aid restrictions if the situation does not progress.

Blinken also stressed the importance of de-escalating tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon and avoiding wider conflict in the region post Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
