Tanzania has emerged as Africa’s premier tourist destination for 2024, showcasing its renowned national parks and breathtaking natural wonders. The country’s tourism sector has experienced tremendous growth, thanks to strategic government initiatives and global recognition.

Serengeti National Park has been recognized as Africa’s standout attraction, earning the title of Africa’s Leading National Park for 2024 by the World Travel Awards for the sixth consecutive year. Its expansive landscapes and diverse wildlife distinguish it from other famous parks like Botswana’s Central Kalahari Game Reserve and South Africa’s Kruger National Park.

These accolades underscore Tanzania’s successful conservation efforts and robust tourism management strategies. President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership, highlighted by her documentary “Tanzania: The Royal Tour,” has significantly raised the country’s international profile, attracting more tourists and foreign investments.

In 2023, tourist arrivals surged by 24.3%, reaching a record-breaking 1.8 million visitors and generating R$18.9 billion ($3.368 billion) in revenue. The tourism sector’s contribution to Tanzania’s GDP is expected to hit 19.5% by 2025/26, with over 1.4 million jobs created as of 2023.

Tanzania’s government focuses on attracting high-income tourists and promoting sustainable practices to safeguard its natural and cultural treasures for future generations.
