The tax authorities are aiming to streamline the tax declaration process for 1.4 million taxpayers by early April next year, ensuring they don’t miss out on maximum deductions for one-off payments. Taxpayers who want a 4% discount on their income tax simply need to confirm by pressing a button by April 30. If not done by then, a 3% discount can still be earned by submitting before June 15, with a final 2% discount available until July 15.
For those who prefer paying in installments, the first installment can be paid at the end of July. The initiative is part of a move by the government and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) to prevent errors in tax declarations, which resulted in many amending statements last year. By setting specific submission periods, the process is expected to be more efficient, with discounts available for early submissions ranging from 4% to 2% based on submission dates.
