As kimchi-making season approaches, the government and ruling party have announced plans to support the purchase of kimchi ingredients at prices discounted by up to 50%. Kim Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Policy Committee of the People Power Party, revealed these measures after a meeting on the stabilization of kimchi ingredient supply. The government aims to allocate funds to support discounts of up to 50% on agricultural products to reduce consumer burden. Discounted prices at various markets will be combined with additional company discounts, allowing for up to 40% off on agricultural goods and up to 50% off on seafood.

To ensure an adequate supply of kimchi ingredients, the government plans to increase cabbage supply by 10%, increase radish supply by 14%, and provide discounts directly to traditional markets and supermarkets. Various seasonings will also be supplied, including 500 tons of domestic garlic and onions to wholesale markets, as well as 5,000 tons of cheongju salt to traditional markets and supermarkets.

This initiative aims to support consumers and maintain a steady supply chain to ensure a successful kimchi-making season.
