Syria confirms 2 dead in Israeli missile attack on Damascus

An Israeli airstrike in Damascus resulted in the death of two civilians, according to Syria’s defence ministry. The attack targeted a vehicle in the Mazzeh neighborhood, causing two deaths and three injuries. The incident, which occurred near the Iranian Embassy, caused significant destruction in the area.

Reports from Syrian state media indicated that a car explosion occurred in the Mazzeh district, home to embassies and security headquarters. The blast damaged a nearby hotel and vehicles, prompting ambulances to rush to the scene. While the cause of the explosion was not confirmed, sources speculate it was likely the result of an air strike.

The Mazzeh neighborhood has been a recent target of strikes attributed to Israel, with previous incidents resulting in civilian casualties. Israeli authorities have expressed concerns about Iran and Hezbollah’s presence in Syria and have taken actions to prevent their expansion. Despite limited comments on specific strikes, Israel remains steadfast in its stance against its adversaries’ influence in the region.
