Over 300 Spanish artists and academics, including acclaimed filmmaker Pedro Almodovar, have called on the government to halt all arms trade with Israel. The group highlighted Spain’s complicity in the ongoing violence in a letter to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, urging for an immediate arms embargo.
The signatories condemned Israel’s actions as massacres and demanded stronger support for Palestinians and Lebanese citizens. They stressed Spain’s moral and legal responsibility to refrain from fueling the conflict and contributing to civilian casualties.
The letter urged Spain to align with international law by ceasing military transfers to Israel. The artists and academics emphasized the government’s role in ending the occupation of Palestine and promoting peace in the region.
