Nizwa transport hub to enhance tourism, spur economic growth

Dakhliyah Governorate Signs Investment Agreements to Boost Transport Infrastructure and Tourism

In a significant move to enhance transport infrastructure and promote tourism, Dakhliyah Governorate signed investment agreements worth over RO7mn. The highlight of these agreements is the development of a modern transport hub in Nizwa, set to improve both commercial activities and tourist movement in the region.

The signing ceremony, held under the patronage of H E Saeed bin Hamood al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, aims to strengthen economic growth and enhance commercial services within the governorate. By fostering public-private partnerships, attracting investments, and creating job opportunities, these agreements mark a step towards sustainable development.

The new transport station in Nizwa will feature a bus and taxi station, two business centres, a commercial centre, and a secondary station for local transport. Designed to blend modern functionality with traditional architecture, the hub is expected to elevate the area’s unique charm, attracting visitors and improving the quality of life for residents.

Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, emphasized the project’s potential to boost tourism and enhance overall infrastructure, aligning with Oman Vision 2040. The agreements also include leasing sites for advertising platforms across key locations in the wilayats, further contributing to economic development.

Additionally, the Ministry of Transport signed agreements for road infrastructure development worth nearly RO15mn, focusing on projects in Jabal Akhdar and the Bidbid-Nizwa Road. These agreements signify a collaborative effort to drive progress and innovation in the region.
