Nigeria’s VON: A Strong Voice

By YUSHAU SHUAIB

In 2019, three Nigerian institutions—the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the Niger State government—were awarded the prestigious African Public Relations Awards for Superior Achievement in Branding, Reputation, and Engagement, SABRE. These awards recognize exceptional PR campaigns that show creativity, integrity, and effectiveness, presented at the annual African Public Relations Association conference in Kigali, Rwanda.

The award-winning campaigns were implemented in partnership with Image Merchants Promotion Limited, IMPR, and stood out for their excellence in communication and crisis management. Notably, Jibrin Baba Ndace, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sani Bello of Niger State, played a significant role in securing the state’s first SABRE award by fostering a collaborative environment among security agencies.

Following his remarkable achievements, Ndace was appointed as Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, where he has continued to promote Nigerian culture, enhance global image, and forge strategic partnerships. Under his leadership, VON has expanded its reach, improved transmission capabilities, and launched innovative programmes to showcase Nigerian excellence. His commitment to transparency, collaboration, and excellence has positioned VON as a leading voice in international broadcasting.

Through his dedication to promoting national unity and showcasing Nigerian diversity, Ndace has brought VON to new heights, aligning with the strategic goals of the Ministry of Information and National Orientation. His visionary leadership and focus on engaging programming are setting a new standard for public broadcasting in Nigeria and beyond.
