NICO to create 200 jobs at nationwide craft festival – The Guardian Nigeria

The National Institute for Culture Orientation (NICO) is set to create 200 jobs through its upcoming Nationwide Craft Fiesta in alignment with the Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy’s goal of generating three million jobs. The fiesta aims to empower artisans from all 774 local government areas to showcase their products globally.

Announced by the Executive Secretary and CEO, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, the event seeks to celebrate Nigerian youth creativity and promote patriotism through craftsmanship. Organized in six editions across the country’s geopolitical zones, each lasting a week, the fiesta will engage, encourage, and support craftsmanship in Nigeria.

Project Manager, Mr. Kayode Adeoti, highlighted the use of technology for transparent participant selection and the opportunity for winners to receive awards and grants from local governments and stakeholders. Participants will also undergo training and mentorship to enhance their product packaging skills. The Nationwide Craft Fiesta aims to showcase Nigeria’s talents and foster the growth of the creative economy.
