Two men are set to appear in court after allegedly defrauding the NSW Government of $200,000 by using false sexual assault reports.
Financial crime detectives initiated an investigation into the fraud in August after discovering suspicious reports submitted through the Sexual Assault Reporting Operation (SARO).
Both suspects, aged 37 and 30, were apprehended at a motel in Lidcombe, Sydney.
The men allegedly created numerous bank accounts to file financial claims for victim compensation through these false SARO reports.
Accumulating over $218,000 in fraudulent claims and reports, the men are accused of exploiting the victim compensation system provided by the NSW Government.
The two offenders face multiple charges and have been denied bail, awaiting their court appearance at Burwood Court.
