Korean Foreign Minister Condemns North Korea’s Troop Deployment, Russia to Monitor “Price”

The foreign ministers of South Korea and the United Kingdom jointly condemned North Korea’s alleged transfer of weapons and sending troops to support Russia in its illegal invasion of Ukraine. They expressed their strongest condemnation for these actions as a threat to global security. Both ministers pledged support for Ukraine and emphasized the need to closely monitor Russia’s military cooperation with North Korea.

During their 9th strategic dialogue, the ministers discussed the deepening ties between Russia and North Korea, expressing concern over the potential transfer of nuclear or ballistic missile technology. They highlighted the interconnected nature of security in Europe, the Indo-Pacific region, and the Korean Peninsula. Looking to strengthen their strategic partnership, they agreed to hold the first-ever 2+2 foreign and defense ministers’ meeting in the first half of next year.

This high-level dialogue marks an important step in enhancing cooperation between South Korea and the UK as global partners in promoting peace, security, and stability.
