JUI-F’s Asad Mehmood not nominated as KP governor: Fact check

False claims circulated on social media alleging that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi was removed and replaced by JUI-F’s Maulana Asad Mehmood. However, no such event took place.

Mehmood, son of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, played a crucial role in the passage of the 26th constitutional amendment after initial opposition and deliberation with the government.

Despite PTI’s agreement with the draft, they did not support the amendment. Posts on social media sparked controversy, but a fact-check confirmed Governor Kundi retained his position.

JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri debunked the misinformation, calling it an attempt to undermine Fazl’s efforts. The lack of mainstream media coverage also indicated the news was false.

Governor Kundi continues to fulfill his duties, refuting the claims of his removal. The fact-check concluded that no changes were made, dismissing the false allegations.
