Israel targets Hezbollah-associated finance group in Lebanon

Israel has intensified air strikes on Lebanese financial institution al-Qard Al-Hassan, tied to Hezbollah, expanding its attacks in Lebanon. The strikes targeted multiple branches in Nabatieh and Tyre, destroying buildings and scattering debris. These attacks are part of Israel’s ongoing escalation with Hezbollah.

Al-Qard Al-Hassan, which provides microcredit in a country hit by economic crisis, is accused by the US of aiding Hezbollah’s financial activities. Israel claims the strikes aim to prevent Hezbollah from rearming using funds stored in the branches.

As the conflict escalates, international figures like US Special Envoy Amos Hochstein and Secretary of State Antony Blinken are pushing for a ceasefire. The Arab League also calls for an immediate end to the violence, emphasizing the need for Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories.

The conflict has taken a toll on Lebanon, with thousands dead and over a million displaced. With UNIFIL on the front line, efforts for peace are crucial. However, the situation remains tense, with both sides continuing to exchange fire. The need for immediate diplomatic solutions is paramount to avoid further tragedy in the region.
