Hong Kong lawmakers question 0M gallery on prime site for showcasing projects

Hong Kong lawmakers are questioning a government proposal to construct a HK$700 million exhibition hall at a prime site to exhibit major development projects like the Northern Metropolis. They are also urging the government to reduce the cost of the first-stage development of the San Tin Technopole near the mainland China border, as authorities plan to apply for HK$30 billion in funding from the legislature.

The focal point of the debate is the government’s plan to allocate around HK$600 million to HK$700 million for a gallery on Wan Chai North waterfront to showcase projects like the Northern Metropolis and a reclamation project off Lantau Island. This funding is part of the HK$30 billion financial application for the technopole’s first-stage development.

Lawmaker Lo Wai-kwok expressed concerns about the utilization of the valuable prime site for the gallery construction and the lack of detailed information for discussion on the project.
