Mondlane claimed that his lawyer was killed by security forces, further escalating tensions in the country.

‘Restraint’

In the midst of electoral violence, the EU observers called for restraint from all parties and condemned the killings of Dias and Guambe, a member of the Podemos party.

International condemnation of the violence and calls for a thorough investigation have been echoed by the United States, African Union, and Portugal.

As Mozambique awaits official election results, Mondlane has urged his supporters to protest against what he anticipates to be fraudulent outcomes.
