Educating Tricycle Operators on CNG Usage – The Guardian Nigeria News

The Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN), Lagos State Chapter, is taking steps to educate its members about the benefits of using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in their operations. According to the Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Azeez Istijabah, this initiative aims to promote safety measures and efficiency among tricycle operators.

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Chapter, recently unveiled 3,000 CNG commercial tricycles to address transportation challenges. Istijabah emphasized the importance of precautions while operating CNG tricycles, highlighting the dangers of smoking and overloading.

Mr. AbdulAkeem Sabiu, the association’s branch chairman in Abule-Egba, expressed optimism about the new CNG initiatives, citing the high cost of petrol as a major concern for operators. He urged the government to provide easy access refilling depots for tricycles using CNG, especially in areas where restrictions are in place.

Overall, the transition to CNG presents a cost-effective and safer alternative for tricycle operators, with the potential to enhance their businesses and improve commuting experiences for passengers.
