China conducts live-fire drills in Taiwan Strait after recent large exercise.

The tension between China and Taiwan escalated as the Chinese military conducted live fire exercises in the Taiwan Strait, a week after large-scale drills, to assert dominance over the island. China, claiming Taiwan as its territory, issued a stern warning against any separatist acts by Taiwan Independence forces.

The live firing, conducted near Taiwan’s main island from the nearest point in mainland China, was closely monitored by Taiwanese authorities. The drills were seen as an act of intimidation by Beijing to bolster its military presence in the region.

International Response

A U.S. and Canadian warship passage through the Taiwan Strait further heightened tensions, with Beijing condemning the transit as disrupting peace and stability. China’s military pressure on Taiwan has been increasing, with frequent deployments of warplanes and ships around the island.

In the wake of recent military exercises, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the need for military preparedness for war. The drills underscore Beijing’s commitment to never renouncing the use of force to reclaim Taiwan.
