Blinken in Israel to Restart Cease-fire Efforts: US — Naharnet

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s 11th visit to the region aims to revive cease-fire efforts following the killing of top Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. However, all sides in the conflict seem entrenched in their positions.

Israel remains in conflict with Hamas and Hezbollah, launching operations in Lebanon and anticipating strikes on Iran. Blinken’s arrival coincided with rocket attacks by Hezbollah into central Israel and northern Israel, with no reported casualties.

During his visit, Blinken plans to discuss the humanitarian crisis and ending hostilities with Israeli officials. He aims to increase aid deliveries to Gaza and facilitate negotiations for a lasting peace agreement.

Previous cease-fire talks between Israel and Hamas have stalled, and similar efforts with Hezbollah have failed. The ongoing conflicts have resulted in significant casualties and displaced populations in Gaza and Lebanon.
