Renowned Spanish artists have come together to urge Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to take immediate action and enforce a comprehensive embargo on arms supplies to the Israeli occupation. They argue that as long as Spain maintains military relations with the occupying forces, it is complicit in the aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.
The letter, signed by artists such as Pedro Almodovar, Isabel Coixet, and Aitana Sanchez Gijon, emphasizes the importance of Spain’s commitment to human rights and calls for stronger measures to protect the rights of Palestinians and Lebanese citizens. Prime Minister Sanchez recently called on EU members to support Spain and Ireland’s request to suspend the bloc’s free trade agreement with Israel in light of recent events in Gaza and Lebanon.
The artists stress the urgency of halting arms exports to Israel amid the ongoing conflict in the region. They hope their collective voice will push the Spanish government to take a stand for human rights and peace in the Middle East.
