11 ex-GOP officials call for Garland to investigate Musk

A group of eleven former Republican officials penned a letter urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his America PAC. The officials raised concerns over Musk’s actions, particularly his recent move to pay registered voters for signing a petition in support of the First and Second Amendments, which they believe amounts to bribery.

The letter, obtained by the Washington Post, highlights the suspicious nature of the petition and the distribution of payments to registered voters who sign it. The signatories argue that the petition lacks substantial public support and question the transparency of the process.

Musk escalated the situation by announcing a lottery awarding $1 million per day to signatories until the election, further raising eyebrows among critics. The group of former officials includes known opponents of Trump, such as Olivia Troye and Dan Ayer, who have been vocal in their disapproval of Musk’s actions.

The legality of Musk’s giveaway has also been questioned by Gov. Josh Shapiro, who emphasized the need for law enforcement to investigate the matter. The controversy around Musk’s involvement in influencing voter behavior continues to stir debate among political circles.
