US investigating IDF unit for gangrape of Palestinian detainee

The U.S. is investigating the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) unit known as ‘Force 100’ for grave violations, which could impact Washington’s aid to Tel Aviv, Axios reported Monday. The unit is responsible for guarding detainees from Gaza, with ongoing trials for several members accused of sexually assaulting a Palestinian detainee.

In a disturbing incident at the Sde Teiman Prison in the Negev desert, Israeli soldiers gang-raped a Palestinian prisoner, leading to severe injuries leaving him unable to walk. Surveillance footage showed Israeli reservists targeting the victim among other blindfolded detainees.

Reports of abuses against Palestinian detainees at the facility have surfaced since Israel’s offensive in Gaza. Israeli human rights groups are petitioning the Supreme Court to shut down the prison, citing torture and medical negligence against Gaza detainees.

The Israeli army has detained thousands of Palestinians, including women and children, with released detainees showing signs of torture. The ongoing investigation into ‘Force 100’ highlights the urgent need for accountability and justice.
