Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic recently spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, as well as other issues such as the supply of fuel from Russia to Belgrade. Despite seeking alternative energy sources post-invasion, Serbia remains heavily dependent on Moscow for its energy needs.
While maintaining its historical alliance with the Kremlin, Serbia is also pursuing EU membership, leading to a nuanced approach towards Russia in the current situation. Vucic’s stance on sanctions against Russia remains cautious, with impending decisions on participation in the BRICS summit further complicating diplomatic relations.
The escalating partnership between Russia and North Korea, especially in the context of military aid, presents new challenges for global security. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continues to garner international support for his Victory Plan, with positive signals from Washington on the peace initiative.
