A teenager on trial for the murder of a mother-of-two during a home invasion claims he had a knife “centimetres from his face” before the killing, according to testimony in the Brisbane Supreme Court. The youth, who was 17 at the time, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Emma Lovell in December 2022.
The trial, set to continue for four more days, is expected to rely heavily on security camera footage from the Lovells’ home, revealing crucial moments leading up to the tragic event.
Defense attorney Laura Reece emphasized the need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the young defendant was aware of the companion’s weapon before entering the home.
