Sisi directs review of Egypt’s IMF program.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has called for a review of Egypt’s program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in light of current regional and global developments. During his speech at the Global Congress on Population Health and Human Development, Sisi emphasized the challenges faced by the country’s economy due to global instability, which has affected the current IMF program.

Sisi highlighted that Egypt has already suffered significant financial losses in the past 10 months, amounting to around 6 to 7 billion dollars. He stressed the importance of balancing economic reforms with the well-being of the Egyptian people, stating that the government should reconsider its approach if public opinion faces excessive pressure.

Experts Support Sisi’s Call

Economic experts have lauded Sisi’s remarks, noting the need to prioritize the welfare of citizens in any economic decision. Fakhry al-Fiky, head of the Planning and Budget Committee in the House of Representatives, stated that negotiations with the IMF should focus on alleviating the financial burdens faced by the people to safeguard Egypt’s social stability.
