Vasan Bala Deactivates X Account Amid Controversy Over ‘Jigra’ Flop
Director Vasan Bala, known for his film “Jigra” starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, deactivated his X account following backlash over the movie’s performance and plagiarism allegations.
Despite high expectations, ‘Jigra’ flopped at the Box Office, prompting Bala to face criticism online. This led to his sudden disappearance from the X platform, with a message stating his account no longer exists.
Controversy also arose when Divya Khossla Kumar accused the producers of ‘Jigra’ of manipulating Box Office numbers and plagiarizing her film ‘Savi’. Bala acknowledged the challenges of releasing the movie and expressed surprise at its failure.
The film follows siblings, with Alia Bhatt playing a pivotal role alongside newcomer Vedang Raina. While ‘Jigra’ received mixed reviews, ‘Savi’ directed by Abhinay Deo, is a remake of a French thriller, co-produced by Bhatt’s family and T-Series.
Despite the setbacks, Bala remains confident in his work and the universal themes portrayed in ‘Jigra’.
