Jaishankar Lists Specific Issues with Canadian Envoy

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed concerns about specific issues related to Canada, citing how Indian diplomats face obstacles in gathering information crucial for their safety. Jaishankar mentioned that comments made by Indian journalists regarding an envoy’s facial expression are labeled as ‘foreign interference’.

S Jaishankar highlighted that threats to Indian diplomats are dismissed by Canada as ‘freedom of speech’.

Jaishankar criticized Canada for allowing threats towards Indian leaders while restricting innocent comments made by Indian journalists. He emphasized the double standards in information gathering between the two nations, mentioning recent diplomatic actions taken by India against Canadian diplomats.

Recently, India expelled six Canadian diplomats and recalled its High Commissioner after disputes over allegations regarding a separatist’s killing. The tensions reflect the complex diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
