Iraq ranks 145th in global innovation ranks for 2025

Driving Innovation: Iraq’s Ranking in 2025

In the world of innovation, Iraq has made strides but still faces challenges. According to the 2025 Innovation Index by Ceoworld magazine, Iraq ranks 145th globally and 13th among Arab countries. Factors such as patent applications and R&D investment were considered in the assessment.

While progress is noted, Iraq lags behind global and regional leaders in fostering innovation. The top spot on the global list is held by Singapore, with the UAE leading in the Arab world. Countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar have also excelled in investing in education and technology.

Despite Iraq’s natural resources, it scores 57.4 points and ranks lower than neighboring countries in innovation efforts. Challenges such as political instability and limited R&D investment hinder its growth. To improve, Iraq must focus on R&D, strengthen university-industry collaboration, and invest in education.

As Iraq works towards a knowledge-based economy, increased innovation will be crucial for long-term development. By prioritizing technological advancement and fostering collaboration, Iraq can position itself for future success.
