IPOB: Monday, Tuesday Sit-at-Home Not Behind – We Are Actively Participating

By Ugochukwu Alaribe

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has debunked claims of declaring a sit-at-home exercise for October 21 and 22 in Igbo land. In a statement, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, clarified that the group does not enforce sit-at-home orders without a valid reason and urged the public to ignore such directives. The pro-Biafra group emphasized that it always makes public announcements when declaring a sit-at-home and disassociated from the alleged order by criminals.

In a bid to maintain peace, IPOB urged Ndigbo to ignore obnoxious orders that tarnish its peaceful image. Meanwhile, commercial activities in Aba, Abia State, were disrupted by suspected pro-Biafra organizations enforcing a sit-at-home. Schools, banks, markets, and other businesses remained closed, leading to deserted streets in key areas of the city. Security presence was also visible, with combined teams of soldiers and police officers patrolling to maintain order.

The post serves as a clarification from IPOB, denying involvement in the sit-at-home exercise and addressing the disruption in Aba, reported by Vanguard News.
