Adrienne Surprenant, a Canadian press photographer based in France, has been covering conflict zones like Ukraine, Sudan, and the Central African Republic for the past decade. Recently, she collaborated with Le Monde to document the situation in Lebanon from September 24 to October 11.

When Surprenant was asked to go to Lebanon, she didn’t hesitate. She quickly arranged her travel plans, picked up necessary security equipment in Paris, and was in Beirut the same evening.

Upon arrival, Surprenant obtained the required work permits and joined forces with a local photographer, Ali Khara, to assess risks and navigate through the chaotic streets of Beirut post-bombings.

Despite the challenges, Surprenant is driven by her passion for capturing poignant moments amidst chaos and crisis situations. With a keen eye for detail and a brave spirit, she continues to bring powerful stories to the world through her lens.

Through her perseverance and dedication, Surprenant exemplifies the essence of photojournalism, where every click of the camera tells a story of resilience and humanity in the face of adversity.
