3,000 still without power as storm clean-up continues

Yesterday, Storm Ashley caused widespread disruption in Ireland, leaving around 3,000 homes and businesses without power. Crews are working tirelessly to restore electricity, with most outages concentrated in Galway and Mayo. Despite the challenges, the ESB Networks aims to have service fully restored by tonight.

At Dublin Airport, flight operations were severely impacted, with 81 cancellations and numerous diversions. While Shannon Airport managed to operate as normal, Ireland West Airport faced challenges due to high winds. In addition, some flights had to divert to Shannon Airport, causing logistical issues for passengers.

Local authorities are also actively involved in cleanup operations, clearing fallen trees and debris from roads. Limited spot flooding was reported in areas like Galway and Donegal, with some coastal roads being affected. The Humanitarian Assistance Scheme is available for those directly affected by the storm.

In spite of the challenges posed by Storm Ashley, efforts are underway to restore normalcy and ensure the safety of all affected individuals.
