Zelensky: Russia launched 6,100+ attack drones at Ukraine in 2024

In his recent address, President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Russia has deployed over 6,000 Shahed-type drones against Ukraine since the start of 2024. These Iranian-designed drones have been used extensively in recent attacks, targeting cities and towns across Ukraine on a daily basis. The escalating drone attacks reached a peak on Aug. 26 when Russia launched its largest assault, resulting in significant damage to civilian, energy, and fuel facilities.

Despite Ukraine’s efforts to strike back, including targeting a base storing Iranian drones in Russia, Zelensky criticized the delay in the provision of additional defense systems by the international community. The situation has become more concerning as Russia appears to have increased its use of drones in recent attacks.

Moreover, the Belarusian Air Force downed a Russian Shahed-type drone over Belarus, marking a significant incident in the ongoing conflict. Zelensky stressed the need for stronger measures to disrupt Russia’s ability to produce and deploy these drones effectively. The situation calls for urgent action from the international community to support Ukraine in facing this threat.
