Russian military seizes village near Ukraine’s Pokrovsk

Russia’s Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that its forces have seized two more villages in different parts of eastern Ukraine, including one just a few kilometers away from the strategic logistics hub of Pokrovsk.

As the Russian military continues its campaign to take control of the Donetsk region, thousands of Ukrainian civilians have sought refuge in Pokrovsk. Moscow reported the capture of Krasnyi Yar, located 10 kilometers southeast of Pokrovsk.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian authorities have evacuated tens of thousands of people from Pokrovsk and the nearby town of Myrnohrad, fearing further territorial advances by Russia.

In another development, Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed the capture of the village of Nevske in the Luhansk region, showcasing images of heavy destruction with a soldier raising the Russian flag in a damaged building.

These captures come as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a plan to defeat Russia and achieve peace within the next year, amidst ongoing conflict in the region.
