Palestinians in Gaza had limited access to their fields during a temporary ceasefire, resulting in the destruction of 75% of olive trees.
The National Office for the Defense of Land and Resistance to Settlement reported that Israel’s war on Gaza has devastated the olive sector, destroying over 75% of olive trees in the region. Palestinians could only access their fields during a brief ceasefire, allowing some to salvage their harvest. In the West Bank, Israeli forces revoked permits for olive picking, hindering farmers’ access to their lands.
Additionally, illegal Jewish settlers’ violence prevented Palestinian farmers from harvesting their olives. Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank have led to the destruction of vast agricultural lands, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Agricultural Destruction and Settler Attacks
Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor revealed Israel’s plan to eliminate agricultural lands in Gaza, depriving Palestinians of vital resources. The situation has been further compounded by violent incidents by settlers in the West Bank, including the tragic killing of a Palestinian woman during olive harvesting.
