The assault on Beit Lahiya followed an earlier deadly attack on Jabalia, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
The UN and various international bodies have condemned the violence, calling for an immediate end to the attacks on civilians. The ongoing conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries, with many more still unaccounted for in the rubble of destroyed buildings.
