Israel Strikes Hezbollah Arms Facilities in Beirut

Israel launched airstrikes on what it claimed were Hezbollah arms facilities in southern Beirut after the Lebanese group fired rockets into northern Israel. A drone was also reportedly launched at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s holiday home, although he was not present at the time. Netanyahu labeled it an assassination attempt and a grave mistake by “Iran’s proxy Hezbollah” amid escalating tensions following an Iranian missile barrage earlier in the month.

The strikes coincided with Israeli bombardments in Gaza that resulted in over 100 deaths and a tightening siege around hospitals. The continuation of hostilities between Israel, Hamas, and Hezbollah raised concerns about further escalation in the region, especially with the recent death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Israel’s intensified military operations reflect efforts to secure its borders and prevent adversaries from regrouping. The Israeli military targeted multiple locations in Beirut’s southern suburbs, including Hezbollah arms storage facilities and an intelligence headquarters command center. Evacuation orders were issued, and tens of thousands have fled the area in recent weeks.

Despite international calls for de-escalation, the conflict shows no signs of abating as Israel continues its strategic airstrikes in the region.
