Hussein Hachem embraced his injured daughter in Senegal, who arrived on a flight evacuating citizens from the conflict in Lebanon. Sadly, his 14-year-old son died in a bomb attack on their home.
As Israeli forces intensified attacks in southern Lebanon and Beirut, Hachem’s 11-year-old daughter, Mariam, was among 117 Senegalese repatriated to Dakar on a government-organized flight.
Stricken with grief, Hachem lamented his profound loss outside the airport, saying, “I lost everything. I lost my son. I lost my house. All my dreams.” Senegal, with its Lebanese community, shares historical ties with Lebanon and Palestine.
Senegal’s foreign minister, Yassine Fall, condemned the Israeli army’s actions in Lebanon, denouncing the attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
