The Rise of Hoax Bomb Threats Disrupts Air Travel in India
An unverified social media account, @adamlanza111, has caused chaos by issuing bomb threats to over 45 Indian airline flights, disrupting operations and causing concern amongst security providers.
The account, initially targeting Indian carriers, expanded its threats to international airlines like American Airlines and JetBlue. Despite the account being suspended, the impact on air travel has been significant.
Indian airlines such as Air India, Vistara, and IndiGo were among those hit with bomb threats. The threats led to disruptions in operations and even forced some planes to declare emergencies mid-air.
As many as 24 flights received bomb threats on Sunday, with airlines like IndiGo, Vistara, and Air India affected. While most threats turned out to be hoaxes, the incidents have caused distress and upheaval in India’s aviation sector.
Overall, over 90 flights have been targeted by these hoax bomb threats in a span of just a few days, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures and vigilance in the face of such malicious activities.
