Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that the war will continue following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. The Israel Defense Forces reported that Sinwar was killed by Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip during an operation that also resulted in the deaths of three militants. Sinwar, who was appointed as Hamas leader in August, was accused of being responsible for the murder and abduction of Israelis.

While world leaders expressed hopes for peace with Sinwar’s death, Netanyahu emphasized that the conflict was not over and vowed to continue until Israeli hostages are returned. Despite international efforts for a ceasefire, Sinwar’s death may escalate tensions in the Middle East, with the growing risk of a wider conflict. As the region faces humanitarian crises, organizations report high levels of food insecurity and malnutrition, especially in the Gaza Strip.
