The Rotary Club of Akoka Calls for Action on Menstrual Health

In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, the Rotary Club of Akoka, District 9112, has urged the government and policymakers to prioritize menstrual health. The club highlighted the importance of making sanitary products affordable and accessible to every girl child.

During a discussion on improving menstrual hygiene, education, and empowerment at the Reagan Girls Memorial School in Yaba, the club distributed sanitary pads to the schoolgirls. President Rtn. Dr. Doyin Ogunyemi emphasized the significance of breaking barriers that menstruation can create for girls in their educational pursuits.

By empowering girls through education and improved menstrual hygiene, the Rotary Club of Akoka believes they are not only enhancing their health but also contributing to their long-term success. Ogunyemi encouraged the students to continue pursuing their dreams, highlighting the importance of investing in the future of society through education.

The club also stressed the need for proper facilities to support girls during their menstrual cycles and called for breaking the silence surrounding menstruation to promote a culture of openness and respect for the girl child.
