Pro-Iranian protesters attack Saudi TV office in Iraq

Baghdad: Saudi TV Channel Offices Ransacked in Iraq

Supporters of pro-Iran armed groups in Iraq attacked the offices of a Saudi TV channel in Baghdad after the broadcaster aired a report labeling Tehran-backed commanders as “terrorists.” Approximately 400-500 individuals vandalized the MBC studios, destroying electronic equipment and setting part of the building on fire. Security forces intervened to disperse the crowd and secure the area.

The controversial report, featuring references to Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Axis of Resistance groups, triggered outrage among pro-Iran factions. The Iraqi government, with a pro-Iran majority, has struggled to navigate regional conflicts, while some armed groups claim responsibility for attacks against Israel.

Iran and Saudi Arabia’s ongoing rivalry complicates the situation, with a potential thaw in relations halted by recent events in Gaza. The incident underscores the complex web of alliances and tensions in the Middle East, impacting diplomatic efforts and regional stability.
