PPP, JUI-F agree on constitutional benches

In a recent development, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), announced that a consensus has been achieved with Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) regarding the formation of constitutional benches for ongoing constitutional amendments. The discussions are progressing swiftly, with both PPP and JUI-F aligned on the establishment of these benches to strengthen parliament by abolishing the 19th amendment.

During a meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Bilawal clarified that the draft that caused some confusion was a joint effort led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He expressed hope that Maulana Fazlur Rehman could convince PTI to support the constitutional amendments. Bilawal urged PTI to back Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s draft if they oppose the government’s version, emphasizing that JUI-F has no objections to their draft.

Criticizing PTI, Bilawal challenged them to show political maturity rather than just being a “social media army”. He stated that any failure would be on PTI, urging them to engage in constructive politics and learn from Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s leadership.
