Morocco’s Government Council Approves Suspension of Import Tariffs on Agricultural and Livestock Products

The Government Council of Morocco, led by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, recently gave the green light to several draft decrees aimed at suspending import tariffs on various agricultural and livestock products. This decision was announced by the Ministry Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, the government’s spokesperson.

Among the approved decrees is the suspension of import duties on virgin and extra virgin olive oil. Another decree was passed to suspend import tariffs on domestic cattle, while a third decree focused on domestic sheep. Additionally, the Council approved a decree to suspend tariffs on meat from bovine, ovine, caprine, and camelid species.

This move is expected to benefit the agricultural sector in Morocco and help support local farmers and livestock producers. By reducing import tariffs on essential products, the government aims to stimulate growth in these industries and ensure food security for the country.
