“What we have seen for the time being is that there is no red line. We have seen a blatant, constant disregard of international humanitarian law”. Philippe Lazzarini
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Refugees and Works Agency (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini spoke with Anadolu news agency, revealing the pressure faced by the organization due to becoming a target of Israel. The Gaza, West Bank, and Lebanon regions are in crisis, urgently needing UNRWA services.
Lazzarini stressed the importance of UNRWA’s presence in Gaza to save lives, highlighting the dire situation of children deprived of education. The ongoing war in the region poses a threat to international humanitarian law and human rights.
The Commissioner-General also expressed concerns about Israel’s aggression in Lebanon and the systematic targeting of UNRWA, leading to funding uncertainties and an uncertain future for the agency.
