IDF soldier dies from injuries in southern Lebanon fight

Saturday night, the IDF announced the passing of Sergeant Major (res.) Yishai Netanel Greenbaum, a platoon sergeant in the 288 Brigade’s 5030th Battalion, from Lod. Greenbaum, who was critically wounded in combat in southern Lebanon on October 9, succumbed to his injuries.

Earlier reports also mentioned the deaths of Staff Sergeant Ofir Berkovich and Sergeant Elishai Young in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. Since the conflict began, the IDF has lost 748 soldiers, with 355 casualties during ground operations in Gaza.

Greenbaum, a social worker, dedicated his life to treating trauma-affected soldiers. His wife, Hadas, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, praising her beloved husband’s sacrifice. Greenbaum’s dual roles as a sergeant and social worker reflected his unwavering commitment to his country.

Reflecting on his service, Greenbaum’s words echo his selflessness and dedication. His legacy as an extraordinary individual is honored by the Ramat Gan Hesder Yeshiva and the city of Lod, where he served both as a soldier and a social worker.
