How did Hezbollah drones outsmart Israel’s defenses?

Hezbollah has significantly enhanced its aerial capabilities in recent years, focusing on developing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to target buildings in Israel with precision. This has proven effective in attacks on Israeli military bases and even towards the Prime Minister’s residence. Operated by Unit 127 under Hezbollah’s aerial division, these drones are based on Iranian technology and have been used in Syria alongside the Syrian Army, Iran, and Russia.

Israel’s Response

Israel has made targeting this unit a priority, as Hezbollah expands its storage sites and launch capabilities for larger drones. The UAVs are difficult to detect and intercept due to their design and low altitudes. Despite Israeli efforts to counter these drones, Hezbollah continues to smuggle them from Iran through the Syria-Lebanon border.

While the IAF and Military Intelligence have inflicted damage on the unit, Hezbollah’s tactics of launching multiple drones simultaneously or in conjunction with rocket launches pose challenges. The ongoing conflict between these two forces reflects the escalating technological warfare in the region.
