The Cyber Crime Wing of the FIA conducted province-wide raids leading to the arrest of senior journalists, lawyers, and TikTokers for spreading an alleged rape story that incited violent protests across Punjab. Among those arrested were Raja Ahsan Naveed, Faisal Jutt advocate, and Umar Daraz Gondal, who allegedly instigated students to violence.

The FIA is searching for 38 others involved in spreading false information on social media. FIRs have been registered against prominent figures like Jameel Farooqi, Ayyaz Amir, and Sami Ibrahim. The FIA is also working to track down suspects who operated social media accounts from abroad.

Principal Saadia Yousuf highlighted the involvement of social media campaigns in aggravating the protests, leading to violence and damage to property. The FIA technical reports identified accounts spreading fake propaganda against the Punjab Group of Colleges, inciting public unrest.

The aftermath of the false propaganda led to the destruction of infrastructure by violent mobs. Lahore CCPO Bilal Siquque Kamyana reported 55 arrests related to the violent protests. The government blamed the Insaf Students Federation for inciting violence and disrupting peace in Punjab.

A student, involved in spreading misinformation, expressed regret and apologized for her actions. The situation in Punjab cities is now reported to be normal, with police ensuring law and order.
