Federal Capital Territory Residents Demand Dismissal of National Grid Managers

Electricity consumers in the Federal Capital Territory are calling for the dismissal of personnel responsible for managing the National Grid following its collapse on Saturday. This marks the second collapse in a week and the seventh in 2024, leading to widespread frustration among residents.

Residents in Kuje, Area 10, Gwagwalada, and surrounding areas voiced their discontent, urging the government to replace those overseeing the grid. Mr. Bisi Afolabi and Mr. Samuel Maduka expressed their lack of confidence in the current management, calling for more competent personnel to be hired.

Mr. Solomon Oche and Mrs. Uduak Essien also highlighted the impact of frequent grid failures on businesses and households, emphasizing the need for decisive action. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the system failure on Saturday, attributing the power outage to grid issues.

The recurring collapses have left residents exasperated, prompting calls for swift action to address the situation. Only with competent management can the ongoing challenges in the power sector be effectively tackled.
