Meet Matan Levy, an IDF soldier who lost his sight but didn’t lose his determination. Despite his blindness, he now serves as a legal intern at the Tel Aviv District Attorney’s Office, fulfilling his dream of contributing to his country.
While on duty at the Gaza border, Levy was critically wounded in a mortar attack, resulting in the loss of his sight. After spending months in the ICU and undergoing rehabilitation, he decided to pursue his goal of becoming a lawyer, starting his internship at the State Attorney’s Office.
Despite the challenges of being blind, Levy impresses his colleagues with his dedication and knowledge of legal matters. With the support of his family and colleagues, he excels in handling complex legal documents and arguing in court.
Now, working on cases in district courts, Levy is grateful for the opportunity to fight serious crime in the courtroom. He views each day as a gift, living with resilience and a positive attitude that inspires everyone around him.
October 14, the anniversary of his injury, is not a day of sorrow for Levy—it’s a day of celebration for his survival and his commitment to living a meaningful life despite his blindness.
