Local Youth Rescue Abducted Siblings in Jonglei State
In a brave act of heroism, local youth in Jonglei State’s Ayod County managed to rescue two underage siblings who were abducted by armed assailants. The siblings, aged 7 and 10, were taken from their home while their mother was working in the garden.
Ayod County Commissioner James Chuol Jiek confirmed that the abductors were pursued by the local youth and the siblings were recovered after a clash. The children were found in the bush between Duk and Ayod counties, where the abductors were attacked and one was killed before the siblings were rescued.
Commissioner Chuol attributed the attack to armed youth from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area and called on the local government to take action. Meanwhile, the GPAA information minister condemned the incident and promised to cooperate with authorities in Jonglei State to bring the criminals to justice.
The successful rescue of the siblings highlights the bravery and unity of the local youth in protecting their community against threats, ensuring a safer environment for all residents.
