In a surprising turn of events, it seems that Donald Trump is once again trying to silence Stormy Daniels, despite his previous legal entanglements. Rachel Maddow’s report on MSNBC revealed that Trump’s lawyers attempted to strike a new hush money deal with the adult film star to prevent her from discussing any alleged past interactions with the former president.
Trump’s team allegedly offered to reduce Daniels’ outstanding legal fees in exchange for her agreement to not make any defamatory statements about him. After first estimating her debt at $650,000, they later settled for $620,000, rising to $635,000 if she refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Daniels ultimately paid $627,500 and declined to sign the NDA.
This latest attempt at silencing Daniels comes after the 2018 revelation of the $130,000 hush money payment made to her by Trump days before the 2016 election. Trump’s involvement in the payment led to his fixer Michael Cohen’s conviction on fraud charges. Despite Maddow’s attempt to get a response from the Trump campaign, they attributed the emails to an Iranian hacking, a claim dismissed by Maddow’s sources.
The situation leaves many bewildered by Trump’s audacity in revisiting the hush money issue, adding another layer of drama to an already controversial chapter in American politics.
